TTV Thursday – Happy 2yr Anniversary!

sorry this is late, it’s been a busy few days. R and i just celebrated our 2 yr anniversary, afterall. and honestly, the internets have been the last thing on my mind….
on our way to get all the tent-chair-table-everything-we-could-possibly-need-for-a-backyard-wedding rentals taken care of this weekend. wish us luck that the tent we require fits in the space we have available. :S
(oh yeah, and the whole TTV 365 photoset is here if you want to see the rest of the week’s shots)
TTV Thursday – Self Portrait
how’s your thursday going?
i’ve got too much on my plate once again, and on my way to work as well! boo. here’s to 6 more days until my next day off! however, i did make myself a new necklace.
probably be some available in the shop next week!
(i also did a little shop update today and yesterday, with still more stuff to add tomorrow. check it out!)
TTV Thursday – Forever & Always
happy ttv thursday!
today is day 15 on my ttv 365 project.
i’m looking for another feature to incorporate in my weekly posts. (can you tell that thursdays and fridays are my days off from my full time job? those are the only ones i’ve had a chance to post on recently. don’t worry, i’m working to fix that!)
i used to have a feature on my old blog for an etsy shop of the week. i’m bringing that one back for sure, but maybe a little bit different this time:
mondays will now be “etsy’s best kept secrets” – exceptional, yet undiscovered etsy shops (or shops with a very low numbers of sales). i know what it was like to be a brand new seller on etsy (as i’m sure some of you with shops do too!), and every little bit of exposure helped! i’d love to bring that to some new and lovely etsy shops, because there are so many out there!
TTV Thursday – New Project! (TTV 365)
i’ve adopted a new project.
i did something similar a while back called Project 365, where you take a photo a day for 365 days.
instead of just any old photo, (because i ended up giving up on that project about a third of the way through, because well, i was out of inspiration and it seemed more of a chore than a delight after a while), i’m doing TTV 365.
365 days of through the viewfinder photos.
so excited! ryan helped me build (well, really he built) my TTV contraption so that i could take more accurate photos, with no glare on the viewfinder:
i started this project on the 11th, so if you want to see the rest, check out my flickr set.
and then every thursday, i’ll post one here too! :)
TTV thursday!
one of the things i’ve really gotten into lately is TTVs. i’m a huge fan of vintage photographs as it is, but when i found myself nose-to-nose with a beautiful, old Kodak Duaflex III camera at a thrift store for less than $5 (which i didn’t find out later was because the shutter doesn’t work), i couldn’t resist snatching it up! i have to admit, the encounter left me a little weak in the knees…
if you aren’t familiar with the term (as i wasn’t before i bought the camera and started to look up film for it), TTV means ‘through the viewfinder’ and is accomplished by using a digital camera to take the photo through the viewfinder of the vintage camera. this works best with cameras such as the Duaflex because of the size of the viewfinder on the top of the camera, and the bubbled glass lens that creates the magnified affect.
it’s incredibly addicting, but very difficult to do without some sort of “contraption,” as regular TTVers call it (see this flickr group to see what they look like/how to make them), to block out the light and reflections from marring the surface of the viewfinder with an annoying glare.
i don’t use a contraption just yet, i took the photos above while holding up a piece of paper in a strategic spot to block out the glare. i’m working on making one, so that this can be more of a hands-free process. as of right now, holding a piece of paper and a heavy DSLR camera pointed down at a tiny screen while also attempting to use auto-focus is a bit more than a nightmare… haha. i’ll post a photo of it here when it’s finished!
that’s all the photos i took with this process for now, but i’ll be posting a new TTV of mine every thursday for TTV Thursdays!
have you ever taken a TTV? or have a favorite photo
i’d love to see some links to yours in the comments! :)
