how i got to send some of my jewelry to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes…and what i sent

if you haven’t been following me on Facebook or Twitter and you’re not signed up for my email list, you might not already know this. but this month, i had the amazing opportunity to send my jewelry to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and i couldn’t feel more lucky! :D

earlier this year, i was accepted into the prestigious artist’s organization, The Artisan Group, that helps people like little old me, market their businesses at a Hollywood level and gives us opportunities to gift some really big-name celebrities. i was chosen in a lucky lottery winning within our group to be one of the shops sending something to Tom Cruise and his cute family!

after much deliberation, i designed this necklace for Katie featuring the birthstone color (diamond) of their daughter, Suri and mailed it out a couple days ago! it’s a big relief to see this finished and on its way… i’m nervous and excited. my stomach was a mess of knots before i sent it off!

Pangea Handmade gifts Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

so, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise will be in possession of this piece in just a short while! who knows if anything will come of it, but how cool would it be to see it being worn out in public! my gosh, the thought….but, maybe she won’t like it and i’ll never hear of it again. but you can bet i’ll keep you posted if i do!

A flood of new things….

It seems at this point cliche and way past due to apologize for my absence. 2011 and already the beginning of 2012 have been CRAZY AWESOME and I really haven’t had a lot f time to do anything but enjoy it. I am constantly apologizing for my lack of updates, but I can’t possible keep up without losing some of my sanity (and “real” life). So I thought I’d give you a little update and show you what I wore today, as that seems to be a trend in the blogosphere nowadays. Gosh, the things you miss out on when you’re away!

 outfitstrip - 03/21/2012

2011 came and went in the blink of an eye, and I can’t believe it’s over already! During the course of it, my husband and I moved 600 miles away from our then-current location of Fargo, ND to Madison, WI and could not be happier. We joined up with the nationally-known, award-winning Dane County Farmer’s Market in the Arts and Crafts section, and made a summer out of it (this summer we plan to do the same!). We made lots of awesome new friends! We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary only a short few weeks after moving to our new home last May, and that means number two is coming right up! Our futures look bright and sunny and we are so thankful every single day for the opportunities we’ve been given and the giant leaps we’ve taken these past months. Thank you so much to all that have supported us in our journey!

So… enough with the sappy stuff. I basically wanted to let you know that I’m still alive. :)

2012 has also been a productive year so far. I was accepted into the prestigious and exclusive celebrity gifting organization called The Artisan Group, which has given Pangea Handmade the opportunity to send a bit of my line to Tom Cruise’s cute little family! This is the necklace I designed to send to his wife, Katie Holmes, with his daughter, Suri’s birthstone color:

This year has also marked a momentous business decision for me and I’ve also opened up a photography shop on both Society6 (selling prints, notecards, iphone cases, macbook covers, and more!) and Etsy (selling prints for now, notecard packs coming soon)! I’ve been debating this path for quite some time, and finally felt I was ready to put these puppies out into the world. :) I’ve also created a Facebook Fan Page for my photography as well.

So yeah! I’ve been busy, to say the least! :) Hope you are all having a wonderful week, and here’s to seeing a little more of each other soon. ;)

cheers!

ack! lightbox! weeee!

yes. it’s 5:40am and i haven’t gone to sleep yet.

and there’s actually really no reason for it.

i stayed awake because i always stay awake and in my sleep-deprived mind, trying to FINALLY get the lightbox feature on my website set up and working properly sounded like an absolutely FANTASTIC idea (it’s an add-on for the eCommerce operating system that i use, and it’s so confusing that i’ve avoided it like the PLAGUE for at least, well….since Christmas or so. i have been so scared of it, that i even made it one of my goals for 2011 so that i had to hold myself to it!), and so i followed all of the HORRIBLY easy instructions (“easy”, because i’ve read through them about 50 GAZILLION times already, trying to prepare myself for every little thing that could go wrong during the upload–the worst being a wipe-out of my entire site, which wasn’t entirely impossible to do, but it was highly improbable. try telling that to my worst-case-scenario brain….), and

VOILA!

i have a beautiful, brand new, professional-looking lightbox for my additional product photos. i’m so happy right now that i could cry! :’)
try it out for yourself! click HERE and then click on any product. then click on the main product image and an overlay will pop up so you’ll be able to scroll through each of the additional product images in their zoomed-in state right from there! like this:

just ask Hubbs, who witnessed me squealing like a little girl in a store full of lollipops and my little ponies (that doesn’t date me, does it?). i probably sat with my hand over my mouth, wide-eyed and screeching into my sweatshirt sleeve for like 10 minutes about how i was so speechless that it worked on the first try. i just kept clicking on every product image in my shop, drooling over how simple and awesome it now looked.

so: moral of the story?

JUST DO IT, ALREADY!

& that’s my motto for next week now. :D

what’s yours? have you done anything to surprise yourself, lately?
